Skin Conditions: Analyze Your Skin

When a baby is born, its skin is usually well balanced. This means that the skin’s PH level is at 5 to 5.5, which is considered normal skin condition.

Now with the food that we eat, the things we do to our body like working hard, sun bathing, smoking, drinking, stress and other lifestyles we live, our skin conditions change. We get little wrinkles, the skin becomes oily or super dry, or we get problems with pimples or acne. These conditions can change over the course of our lives. Usually when we change our lifestyle, the skin will also follow (e.g. you start eating healthier, you change your job, start doing sports etc.), to the good and the bad.

Look at this table to see what four common skin conditions there are:

Normal Skin

You don’t have any problems with your skin, it feels normal, neither dry nor oily.

Dry / sensitive skin

Your skin is rather dry, you can feel the tension all over your face. It can be flaky, easily gets irritated or tends to redness.

Oily skin

Your skin quickly gets oily all over your face, which gives you a feeling of having to wash your face all the time.

Combination skin

Your skin gets oily in the T-zone (forehead, nose, chin) and tends to dry on the cheeks.

You might have some difficulties defining your skin right now. To find out, in which condition your skin currently is, wash your face with water only in the evening and go to bed. When you wake up, you will be able to see if your skin is dry or rather oily, or both or just normal that makes you feel comfortable.

If this is your first time that you think about your skin, don’t stop – this is just the beginning. As we grow older, our skin changes as well, but you can definitely help your skin look younger and fresher with a few things. It’s important that you start at a young age, because, like with health, it is much easier to prevent than later cure.

Not everyone needs cleanser, toner, serum, day and night cream. You might go just with a facial soap and one cream. It is important that you care, because good and healthy skin will make you feel more confident and gives you a very good feeling!
