So, you overachiever (and perfectionist, and people pleaser). I got a confession to make: I used to be really good at hiding my emotions. I didn’t want anyone to see when I was „weak“ or when I had to cry.
I used to believe that being emotional (aka feeling all the feels) was a bad thing.
I used to believe that if people saw me cry, they would think I was a failure and they wouldn’t respect me as much anymore.
So if you are someone who works too much, feels stressed all the time, and can’t turn off your racing thoughts at night, chances are that you are also shutting down your emotions.
Because… what if they came up and exploded suddenly? It’s safer to keep them buried within. At least that’s how I used to live my life until a few years ago.
And let me tell you (and you probably know this!): it’s such hard work to wear this happy mask all the time, pretending we have it all together when we really don’t!
So what are emotions?
E-motion stands for Energy in Motion. Emotions move is. Happiness moves us, makes us jump and dance and laugh. Sadness moves us, makes us wanna crawl up in bed and cry.
We move energy through the body with our emotions.
But when you block it, you create stagnation in your energetic body. That’s why the shaking yesterday lifted so much for the women who joined live.
I know it feels safer to hide your emotions, but it won’t work forever, because it becomes kind of a lot for the body, all those things you’re stuffing down, all those things you’re not expressing, that anger, that frustration, that pressure you put on yourself…
And there comes the emotional explosion.
There comes the burnout.
There comes the breakdown.
There comes the panic attack.
It has to come out somewhere, because your (energetic) body can’t carry it all forever!
And this high pressure of hiding your feelings is probably also affecting your friendships, your intimate relationship, your body and your health, am I right?
Feelings are GREAT! They show you the way. Let them be there and move through them without judgment. In Perfectionist Rehab, I am teaching you all of this.
