Hey beauties! I have just arrived in Bali this week and am on a solo trip!
Can you believe I haven't traveled alone and for myself in about two and a half years! Last time I traveled by myself, no partner, no family, no friends, no clients, no work, was when I went on my first retreat in Bali a few years ago.
Now, you may think I am crazy to travel by myself. But it is actually SO rewarding and life-changing you won't believe it.
Let me give you three reasons you should 100% plan a trip just for yourself:
1) You Get To Know Yourself Better
In case you forgot, you are the most important person in your life. No-one should know you better than yourself. No-one should love you more than you love yourself. You are the ONLY person you are going to spend the rest of your life with. Get me? Everyone else comes and goes, stays with you for a while, may leave at any time... But you stay with you until the day you die.
So you may as well have an amazing relationship with yourself and get to understand yourself as much as you can. Traveling solo allows you to meet yourself - when you feel lonely, when you struggle with making plans, when you're angry about something that doesn't work out the way you expected it to... You will be faced with the bare truth - with yourself.
While you can do this at home as well, it is much more efficient and beautiful when you're away from home. Try it - you can thank me later ;)
2) You Step Out Of Your Comfort Zone And Grow
We all know this comfortable place we live in - our comfort zone. Everything is comfortable, you know how things work, you know what's right and wrong, it's a pretty ok place to be in, it feels safe and you're confident in this space.
There's just one problem with the comfort zone: You cannot grow in your comfort zone.
You cannot become a better version of you. You cannot learn more about yourself. You cannot expand your heart and your experience. You cannot become more confident in there. You cannot learn to love and trust yourself and others more.
You just stay the same. Same old you. Same old problems. Same old issues. Same old patterns. Same old pains.
In order to get to where you want to go, wether that's becoming more confident in your body, finding your life partner, starting your wellness business, making more money, or loving yourself with all your flaws, you have to step outside that safe space and take on risks.
And yes, there's the risk you may fail.
The risk it may be difficult.
The risk it may be painful.
The risk you might get hurt.
The risk you may cry.
The risk you may feel lost at times.
The risk you may not know what to do next.
And that's the point of growth. You have to step out to experience all of these things, so you can find solutions and grow into that more confident version of you. You expand.
And this is what happens when you travel by yourself (especially if you've never done this before). You throw yourself into the cold water and will just have to wait and see what happens!
Embrace your emotions. Get to know yourself. Face the fears and the challenges life throws at you... all of it will help you become better and more comfortable with yourself.
It is so worth it and unless you're already living your dream glowing life (which I am partly, but not completely either), you HAVE to step outside to get closer to the lifestyle you desire.
3) You Can Be Truly Present
When we're not with people you know, we are naturally more present, because we're away from the energy we're so used to. We're in a new energy and can't be distracted so much by the well-known "home vibes". It is much easier to be present and fully enjoy what you're experiencing.
Just be aware you're not spending too much time on your phone and on Instagram, because that's almost like a "friend" you're taking with you on your trip! It knows you and you know it. So the more you can stay away from it, the better (and I am 100% guilty for this like you have no idea lol!).
