When you’re going on a trip (or are headed to a retreat like The Glow Camp), maintaining a consistent skin care routine might not be your priority. Yet, taking care of your skin while you’re away from home is not only achievable, but crucial for a glowing, healthy life.
Why I Love Clean Skin Care and Why it Matters
Clean skin care isn't just a trend, it's a commitment to your overall health and wellbeing. Our skin is our body's largest organ, and it is therefore really important that we take care of it, especially when we’re traveling to a different climate and different time zones. Conventional skin care products generally contain harsh chemicals, fragrances, and preservatives that can disrupt the skin's natural balance, leading to irritation, inflammation, and long-term damage.
Choosing clean skin care products with natural and non-toxic ingredients, is the best thing you can do for your overall health. By choosing clean skin care, you're not only nourishing your skin, but are also contributing to a healthier environment by reducing your exposure to harmful chemicals and supporting eco-conscious brands.
My favorite skin care products, which I’ve been using for at least 5 years, are from Indie Lee. She started her brand in her own backyard as a result of being diagnosed with a brain tumor. She shared her entire story on my podcast a few years ago, and she’s just such an inspiring woman.
Sticking to Your Routine when Traveling
Here are some of my best beauty travel tips to help your skin stay hydrated and glowing:
Simplify your routine
We like to keep things simple over here, so in regards to skin care, this would mean a cleanser and a moisturizer.
Pack travel-friendly sizes
Get yourself some travel-sized containers, or purchase mini versions of your favorite products (Indie Lee has travel size products) to keep your luggage light.
Stay consistent
While your schedule may be different during travel and jetlag may hit you at the beginning of your trip, do not skip your skin care.
Glowing Skin From Within
In addition to using clean skin care products, there are several other simple things you can do to keep your skin healthy and glowing:
Stay hydrated: Drink plenty of water throughout your journey to keep your skin hydrated from the inside out. Avoid sugar, alcohol, and coffee, which can dehydrate the skin (your health will thank you for this anyway).
Protect your skin: While direct sunlight on your skin is healthy for a limited time to help with your vitamin D, it’s important to remember to wear sunglasses, a hat, and stay in the shade during the hottest hours.
Get enough sleep: However much sleep your body needs, it’s key for healthy skin, because while you sleep, your cells can repair and regenerate. If you are traveling during the night, get yourself an eye mask, and wear comfy clothes, so you can relax better.
By prioritizing clean skin care and adopting healthy habits while traveling, your skin will remain glowing and radiant from within.
Caring for your skin is not just a luxury, it's an essential investment in your overall health and wellbeing.
So pack your favorite clean skin care essentials, start your journey with confidence, and let your inner glow shine bright for the world to see. Safe travels and happy skin-caring!
