So often, women come to me, we have a great conversation, and they are ready to change something in their lives (or at least that's what they say!). A few days later, they come back saying that they'll first try to implement what they already know. However, chances are very high that not much (if anything) will change for them in the following weeks and months, and here are two reasons why:
Reason #1: Information doesn't create transformation
You probably already know what you should be doing to change your life, decrease the stress, and make more time for you. I'm talking about knowing that you should drink more water, take more breaks, work less, sleep more, meditate, journal, move your body, have positive thoughts... the list goes on. But most probably, you're not implementing, because work gets overwhelming and is more important (or at least that's what you were told to believe).
So here's the million dollar question: For how long have you known this information? How many opportunities have you had to implement, but didn't do it (because you got overwhelmed with work)? How many times have you said you will try again and do better "next time", yet nothing happens.
Information alone doesn't change ANYTHING in our lives. In order to create lasting transformation, we need to change our habits. And here's reason #2 why you can't heal perfectionism just by knowing all the information necessary.
Reason #2: Same habit and behavior = same result
If you haven't seen results with all the information you have, it's not working. Like Einstein said, if you keep doing the same thing, you can't expect different results. I was trying to establish a meditation practice for two years. And it only clicked once I hired a coach that helped me figure it out, because clearly what I was doing, wasn't working (which in all honesty consisted mainly of knowing what I should be doing).
Where will you be in 6 months from now if you continue your life the way you've lived so far? My guess is: in the exact same hamster wheel. And maybe even more stressed, with stronger headaches, longer to do lists, and more pressure on yourself.
