It is no secret that the holiday season can be challenging for many reasons – but one thing that tends to seep into everyone’s holiday season is the busyness. It seems there is always somewhere to go, something you need to buy, something you need to cook, somewhere you need to travel to, the projects you need to finish at work before the end of the year - the list goes on and it can get a bit overwhelming!
To help you conquer the busyness of the holiday season, I am sharing this piece I wrote awhile back. Give yourself the gift of BLISS over BUSYNESS this holiday season!

Glorifying busyness: The misconception of success
I used to think that the busier I was, the more successful I would seem. The later I responded to emails at night, the more people were going to think my business was doing well.
Before I had my own business, when I was still a full-time store manager, I remember almost bragging about how busy my life was. Especially around this time of the year. I was telling everyone how hard I was working, how I was working on Sundays, too (stores don't typically open on Sundays in Switzerland, unless it's Sunday Sale in December), had all these other things in my free time that were clogging my schedule...
I was proud of being busy all the time and having no time for myself
I honestly don't find being "busy" all the time cool at all (anymore!).
I find it very unattractive. Very stressful. Very draining to think that someone has to rush through life like that.
(And that used to be me!)
Over the past few years of no longer being a full-time manager in retail, I have learned to be compassionate with the younger version of me and send her love :) That Martina back then had a big ego thinking that all that matters was success, busyness, having no time, and getting lots of validation from others. But I was so wrong.
You matter more than your work
Being busy is so uncool. Who wants to have a burnout at the age of 30? Or even in your late twenties? You're not meant to work yourself to the ground, beautiful! You are here to experience and enjoy your one special life. To glow up.
Here's how I define success today:
waking up in the morning without an alarm clock
starting my days with taking care of my body first
oil pulling, tongue scraping, brushing my teeth, and my favorite skin care
making a fresh orange juice
making myself a cup of tea and taking my journal to write out any thoughts, dreams, worries that are on my mind, so I can clear my mind from the clutter
starting work around noon (this is just what works for me - don’t take this as a “how it should be”)
having wonderful clients who are transforming their lives and putting themselves first
expressing myself through creating exciting programs to change (aka glow up) the world
taking breaks for smoothies
taking a nap if I'm tired
doing some yoga or dancing in the middle of the day
taking time to call my friends who live in Japan, Canada, France, or the US
meeting my parents to go to the farmers market in the middle of the week
going to bed feeling fulfilled, balanced, blissful, and happy with my work, my life, and my relationships
Success to me is no longer connected to the position that’s in my CV.
Success to me no longer means just making a lot of money every month (and having no time to even spend it, because you're always working...)
Success to me has become a feeling of life. A feeling of being present with myself. With my feelings. With the people around me. A feeling of bliss, not stress.
Success to me means that I am living my life right now. Today. In this very moment.
And that whatever you do with this very moment is filled with bliss, joy, and love.
May you rethink your own concept of success and may you realize that the only moment in life you truly have to be happy and feel great is now. You totally got this. And you are free to change the way you think and how you see the world anytime!
