How to Become the Most Glowing Version of Yourself in 2022

 
 

Perfectionists, listen up! I know you may not be fully happy with how 2021 went (I still feel it myself...), and maybe in January of 2021, you had the perfect plan for how you're going to glow up your life that year...

Then life happened and your expertise, time, and energy was required at your job, and you couldn't help but lean in and (over)deliver, making sure everyone was happy with your results at work.

And maybe as a result, you are now feeling a little empty, not as fulfilled as you thought you would be. Maybe even disappointed as you sat down to think about what you wanted to do to glow up in 2022.

Here are some reasons why you may have lost focus of your goals last year:

  1. Your goals were too big, the plan you made too overwhelming, and you ended up procrastinating and forgetting about it, and didn't even start (I've been there, too...).

  2. You were so stressed out that you had neither time nor energy nor headspace left to think about what you wanted and work towards that.

  3. Your goals weren't clear enough, unrealistic, vague, or unachievable in the timeframe you wanted, so it was close to impossible to take the first step.

In order to become the best version of yourself in this new year, here are 3 key things you need to consider when creating a vision for the woman you want to become:

1. VISION

Get a clear vision of the woman you want to become

The biggest issue in goal setting I find is that many don't get specific enough. "I want to become healthier" is not enough for a vision to manifest into reality. Typically, I can say that a vision is clear enough when it evokes a picture (aka vision) in your mind. Let's take the becoming healthy example:

I want to eat a healthy breakfast with fresh fruits or vegetables every day, and workout with my favorite workout app (if you don't know yet, mine is theclass.com) at least three times a week. In order to be motivated to get started, I want to get 2 sets of sustainable workout clothes to feel my best when moving my body.

Can you see the picture of this woman in your mind? Her definition of "becoming healthier" is crystal clear, and we even got insights into the first action steps (getting clothes she feels great in).

2. MINDSET

Set your mind up to believe you can become her

We cannot achieve a goal just with our logical mind, or we would all be millionaires, traveling around the world, staying at the most beautiful sustainable beach hotels! In addition to the vision, we need the right mindset. We need to believe that we can become this woman. Here are some affirmations that can help:

  • I achieve anything I set my mind to.

  • I always follow through with what I say I will do.

  • I can do this!

  • I am enough and I am doing great.

3. ENERGY

Clear the clutter, and align with her emotionally already

Everything is energy. This includes your damages cups in your kitchen, your socks with holes in them, and your worn-out t-shirts. They all send out energy. Does it align with the version you want to become this year? If not, throw it out. You have to be able to feel like her already.

Back to our example: To feel healthier through breakfasts and workouts, it will be so much more effortless to eat your breakfasts from a (not-broken) bowl with a cute spoon, and workout feeling great in what you wear (not those yoga pants you've been wearing all day every day while working from home in the past 2 years).

Important: this doesn't mean that you have to throw out everything and spend a lot of money buying expensive new stuff. Just start to pay attention to the energy behind everything that is aligned with your goal. Is it supporting your goal? Is it discouraging?
