Last week, we talked about your skin, about how it is built and how it functions. > Go to last week’s post “Your skin”. Now, we want to focus on the whole body, because good skin always has to do with how we treat our body.
Daily beauty advice:
– sleep 7 to 8 hours
– drink 2 liters of water
– eat fruit and vegetables 5 times a day
– do sports regularly
– laugh
Sleep and renewal
We all know how good it feels to sleep well. However, we often don’t take enough time to give our body the necessary time to recover and therefore, we often suffer from headache, are sensitive or get blemished skin. Whenever our body recovers, it regenerates our cells – without sleep, our skin looks old. For a balanced life, it is essential to sleep 7 to 8 hours per night.
Avoid stress whenever possible. It is not only bad for your soul and puts you in a bad mood, but also has an impact on your skin. Take regular breaks, drink a glass of water, and go for a quick walk. Do things that make you happy and enrich your life. And please don’t forget to laugh!
Nutrition
Our skin cells die regularly and our body renews them. For the cell renewal, our body, besides enough sleep, also needs important nutrients and plenty of water. Our nutrition has an impact on our health and our wellbeing as well as on our appearance. There are lots of vitamins and minerals that are important for skin, hair and nails. Bobbi Brown, makeup artist, says: “Eat at least 5 portions of fresh fruit and vegetables per day.” Here are the most important beauty vitamins:
Vitamin A
– Important for cell renewal and growth
– Find it in carrots, spinach, broccoli, liver, sweet potatoes, melons, egg yolk, milk products…
Vitamin C (ascorbic acid)
– Good for purity, elasticity, color and structure of your skin
– Strengthens your immune system
– Find it in berries, citrus fruits, greens, broccoli, tomatoes, cabbage…
Vitamin E (tocopherol)
– Protects your body from environmental impacts and free radicals
– Important for growth and maintenance of skin tissue and hair
– Find it in weat, oils, greens, nuts, whole-grain products, lentils, avocado
Water
80% of our body consists of water. Without enough water, our skin dries and starts to flake. Make sure you eat a lot of food with a high percentage of liquid, such as vegetables, fruit and soups. Avoid beverages containing coffin whenever possible, because it drains water from your body and blocks it from absorbing vitamins and minerals. Drink two liters of water every day, and feel free to mix it with lemon juice or sugar free fruit juice.
Sports
The more active we are, the better our blood circulation is – which is essential for our skin! When we do sports, our body gets more oxigen and can eliminate any toxics. This is the basis for beautiful skin. Doing sports 20 to 30 minutes a day strengthens your immune system and takes away your stress. And apart from all these advantages, it makes you feel good! And we are in the perfect season for doing sports outside – going for a run in the forest, swimming, skating…
Why don’t you try to do sports three times this week? Go swimming, go for a run, ride your bike, do some strength training… Get off one station before you would usually get off, or go to work by bike instead of by bus. Go for a quick walk during your lunch break or eat in the park. Fresh air is good for your brain. Enjoy, beauties!
